More Details From Charizard at Pokken Arena

Charizard is a Fire/Flying type Pokémon. It is known as the Flame Pokémon and is the evolution of Charmeleon and the final form of Charmander. It is a playable Pokémon in Pokkén Tournament. Charizard was introduced to Pokkén Tournament upon it's initial release in Japan on arcade.

In Pokkén Tournament Edit

Charizard is classified as a power type fighter. It attacks at close range but also has a fairly powerful ranged attack, Flamethrower. It has 600 HP, granting it above-average durability. Charizard has moves, which are used by Devil Jin.

Special Characteristics Edit

Flying Stance Edit

Many of Charizard's attacks lift it off of the ground and into the air. By Cancelling out of these moves, Charizard remains airborne while flapping its wings as long as the R button is held. In Flying Stance, Charizard gains access to several aerial moves that can be chained together. These moves are as follows:

Synergy Burst Edit

Aesthetics Edit

During Charizard's Synergy Burst, it Mega Evolves into Mega Charizard X. Its body turns blackens as its flames and underside turn blue. It also becomes larger, roughly matching Mega Garchomp in size.

Character-Specific Synergy Burst Effects Edit

  • Mega Charizard's Neutral Pokemon Move, Flamethrower, now ends in a fiery explosion that launches the opponent upward if successful.

Burst Attack - Searing Blaze Edit

Searing Blaze

Charizard's Burst Attack, Searing Blaze is initiated by it flying high into the sky and then launching a diagonally-directioned flame burst toward the ground. Because it flies into the sky beforehand, this Burst Attack is one of the only ones able to be used while airborne, along with Decidueye's Shining Feather. Should the initial flame burst connect, Charizard will transition into full animation.

Rather unique to Charizard is that is can actually combo into its Burst Attack through a Phase Shift. By ending Duel Phase with Seismic Toss, Charizard is able to immediately follow-up with Searing Blaze after the Phase Shift, as the shift ends with Charizard airborne and the opponent bouncing off the ground.

  • Synergy Burst duration reduced.

Trivia Edit

  • Unlike Charizard's voiced appearances in virtually all other gaming media, this Charizard does not share its voice actor with Ash's Charizard (Shin'ichiro Miki). Instead, it shares its voice actor with Alain's Charizard (voiced by Kensuke Sato). This appears to imply that, unlike in other appearances such as in Super Smash Bros., this Charizard is meant to represent Alain's Charizard. This relationship is further reinforced by the fact that this Charizard can Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard X, and uses a Burst Attack resembling Blast Burn, which Alain's Charizard knows.
